Taking part into the
7e ParAgility World Cup 2008
in Voghera, Italy

Saterday 23 August we start our journey to Italy. This year we had decided to travel some days, our first overnight stay  in Luxembourg.
On sunday we drive to Grenoble in France and on monday
we had driven  the " Route Napoleon" in the South of France.

On tuesday we have drunk some coffee in the harbour of  Monte Carlo (Monaco) and arrived at the end of the afternoon in our Hotel in Salice Terme, about 8 kilometers from the Cowboys Guest Ranch in Voghera where the Championship took place.

On wednesday the last consult together  the organisation and on thursday, before the start of the trainingsday to the vetcontrol for a check of the dogs and their vaccinations.

Friday 29 August we have run our first agility-course. Quita, my oldest dog, had to start first because the order of start was: small-medium-large.
She was running into the medium, because she's a veteran large dog.
All handlers of the veteran dogs had decided to leave the A-frame and Tyre into the courses, normally these obstacles they leave out.
Quita ran a clear round....also the quickest time...so first place.
Again this "old one"  enjoyed  agility!
Now we had to wait what my young dog Joep would run!

Joep had all contacts of the obstacles with a contact done well, I was very happy with this!
When he came out of the tube-tunnel  he ran  behind my wheelchair and passed by the next jump..so a refusual...one fault!
But his running time was very fast, so he still became the 3e place on the platform.

What a beautiful  beginning ........with both dogs on the  platform!

Second day we had to run a jumping.
Quita  ran one  fault on a jump......and this time her running time was not fast enough for a prize.

Joep had a clear round and also the quickest time........so for him the 1e prize of this  jumping!

The national song  "Wilhelmus" was playing for him...that was emotional for me!

The third matchday, sunday 31 August was there...this last course would showed the Champions of the Total Results of the 7e PAWC 2008.
Quita, but also Joep make a change to become a place on the platform....so there was a little stress.

Quita had to start first again, she ran again a clear round....I was so proud of my little girl!
This second agility course  had given her a silver medal.

Joep took on the third obstacel (a tube-tunnel) the wrong opening...so a disqualification, his place on the platform for Total Results was gone.
Of course it was a pity...however I was very proud of him, he had showed  he's  growing practise agility!

With Quita to the first prize Total Results....toghether with the "Dutch Lion" ( Henk Postma, a supporter with not a very easy job! By this hot temperature to walk such a dress..........assisted with a bottle of wather!)

It was again a great Agility-Event, I have met a lot of friends and also a lot of new competitors for IMCA and PAWC.

This year 35 participating dogs for the PAWC...the number of handlers with a disability become more and more........... that's the best prize for me!

When we arrived  back home, with two  overnight stays in Germany, there was organised a big party in our Street...a lot of family, friends and neighbours   extend a hearty welcome to us.... heart-warming!

Publicity, an interview for a television  and one for a newspaper.

Publicity for (para-) agility......always good!

For all  people a glass of champagne ( for the children a special for them of course)..

a big TOAST!
